Mirror Mirror Everywhere

Whether you're an avid lover of antiques or a streamlined modernist, a touch of antiqued mirror is a great accent.   The speckling and striping that are characteristic of true vintage mirrors occur as a result of moisture, cyclical temperature changes, even salts from our bodies when we handle the backing.   These days mirrors have much better protective coatings so we don't see the occurence of the beautiful old patinas.

But that over used cliche "everything old is new again" still stands the test of time.    Now you can find  antiqued mirror in new products from mirrored tiles to headboards.  And in many cases you can select the degree of patina to fit your particular taste.   It can be overdone so know your limits, but try introducing one piece into your decor and see what happens!

This very dramatic floor mirror uses a modest application of antiquing.   Because of it's size and splendor, excessive patina would be overkill.   This particular mirror would be stunning in a very sleek modern space, serving as a stunning piece of art and offering contrast to more contemporary elements.

I can see this mirror in almost any space;  uber-sleek modern, french provincial, or hollywood glam.

This is one example of how patina can be applied to very modern, stylized piece and still look amazing!  I LOVE contrast!

This is an example of a heavier patina and it really has a traditional french appeal.

A furniture piece with antiqued mirror is a great way to turn heads.   I love this small side table.  Very elegant with a hint of art deco form.

If you're really brave, try a small dining table with a patina on the top.

A bedside table will create something glamorous and romantic.  And a bedroom should ALWAYS be romantic!

And this is for someone with the courage to make a statement.  This long buffet is a stunning piece for a dining room or  in a bedroom!
